Russian Style Potatoes With A Mushroom Sauce


675-900 gms (1 1/2-2lb) Potatoes

1 Large Brown Onion-Chopped

350 gms (12oz) Mushrooms,Sliced

40 gms (1 1/2oz) Butter

1 Heaped Teaspoon Flour

300 ml (1/2 Pint) Sour Cream

1 Teaspoon Chopped Dill

Salt And Pepper


Scrub and boil the potatoes without peeling them.

Melt the butter in a frying pan and add the sliced mushrooms and the chopped onions,cook gently till tender,approx 15 mins.

Stir in the flour then add the sour cream and heat gently,do not allow to boil.

Add most of the dill ,season with salt and pepper,reserve some of the dill to garnish the dish later.

After the potatoes are cool carefully remove the skins then slice them and arrange in an even layer in an ovenproof dish.

Reheat in a moderate oven 10 minutes then pour the sauce over the potatoes and garnish with the reserved dill.

Serve Immediately
